Saw an interesting interview with Hugh Laurie talking about this (on playing House and ‘getting away with’ doing an American accent):
“…. because they’re much less interested…they don’t have that 'Professor Higgins’ ear for…. class and background and geography and the way the British are much more attuned to wait a second where are you from and what trick are you trying to pull on me by… with that particular choice of words. I think partly again because it’s such a big country nobody really…. it doesn’t bother people so much where you’re from or why you sound the way you sound. America’s a country that’s too big to know itself. Someone living in Florida’s go no idea how people behave or what they eat or how they dress in Oregon, it’s just so far away - whereas we know, of course, we know absolutely everything about… every British drama we watch, we’re like, well that’s High Wycombe, that could never happen because it’s a one way system there! whereas America’s so mythically grand, it’s too big to know it'self, and that actually has an affect with things like accent. ”
Between Ryan Gosling Ken and Benoit Blanc I’m starting to think that it’s some sort of animal abuse to keep casting big name actors in stoic macho manly man rolls instead of giving them goofy little guys to play. Like look at them their coats are shiny, they seem so much more lively and energetic. We need to make sure all actors have enough goofy little guys to play before peta gets involved.
If I actually read something on the asks that feels genuinely threatening or dangerous, or that’s actually abusive, I just delete it and block the person.
If I’m answering an ask here you can assume that as far as I’m concerned even if it’s apparently threatening or angry, it’s meant humorously or with love.
It’s never appropriate to dogpile people. Never appropriate to threaten or abuse them, even if you think you are doing it for me and with the best of intentions. Don’t.
If you are upset on my behalf, or on behalf of all Tumblr users, just think “this is probably a tone-deaf attempt at humour” and let it go.

And, because a lot of people don’t understand this bit, this is about you selling your ideas or writing to US-based TV studios or movie studios who are part of the AMPTP. There is no strike against book publishers. Nor audiobooks, graphic novels, or poetry publishing. Or just writing.
